Children's author Rob Lewis came into work with every class throughout the day, composing a school story with the children.
Nursery and Reception were the first class to be visited by Rob. The session started off with Rob reading through one of his books with the class, adding actions as they went along. The children then were given the important task of coming up with ideas for the types of animals that were to be the main characters in the book. The choices varied from horse, dolphin, penguin and seahorse! They were then asked to come up with ideas for different names that the main characters could have, with choices ranging from Jasper, Shep and Sicky!!!

Rabbit 6
Cat 14
Dog 23
Whale 6
Monkey 15

As you can see, we had a draw for the favourite ch aracter type so we had to have two, a dog and a seahorse. We then had to have two names, Becka and George. It was decided that George would be the dog and Becka was to be the seahorse. The children then worked with Rob to come up with a setting, some additional characters and even had a go at drawing the characters.
Year 3/4/5 were visited by Rob after dinner. They were given the story that Year 1/2 composed and were challenged to make a story Totem pole out of cardboard boxes, that represented the story. After afternoon break Year 5/6 had the task of doing some predictive writing. They were instructed to study the Totem Pole and try to write what they believed the story to be.
All classes thoroughly enjoyed their sessions with Rob Lewis and everyone would like to thank him for visiting our school.
